As one of the UK’s leading taxi insurance brokers, we provide great rates on employers’ liability insurance for taxi drivers.
..but what exactly is employers’ liability insurance?
Employers’ liability insurance is designed to protect you as an employer against claims of negligence made by your employees. If an employee becomes sick or injured as a result of working for you, they may decide to claim for compensation and/or loss of earnings. Due to these costs and legal fees, claims like this can easily run into thousands of pounds and if you are found at fault you will be liable for this.
Do you need it?
If you employ one or more members of staff then it required by law in the UK that you take out employers liability insurance. So, if you own a taxi firm and have another person working for you, even if they are a volunteer, temporary worker of family member, then you need it!
Your policy must cover you for at least £5million and come from an authorised insurer such as the ones on InsureTaxi’s panel. Employers who fail to take out the necessary liability insurance can be fined up to £2,500.
How much does employers’ liability cost?
As with most other forms of insurance, the cost of employers’ liability will vary depending on your individual circumstances. Factors like your previous claims history, the number of staff you employ and the nature of your business will all have to be taken into account.
